The electric reel is the right tool to determine the titration of the yarn, mainly its metric number (Nm), based on the weight and length of the yarn.

Thanks to the winding it is possible to obtain skeins of yarn of a pre-selected length, normally 100 metres, then weighing them on the scale.

Therefore, to determine the Nm of a yarn, simply divide its length, expressed in metres, by its weight, expressed in grams.

This is an indirect titration method, but there is also a direct one depending on the composition of the yarns.
